about movingart.online

movingart.online is an experiment in footage processing, showcasing the amazing library of nature through the lens of Louie Schwartzberg.

the process

The idea was to take a library of videos, and transform them into a portal viewer of a library, with blending between clips to establish continuity.

Through open-source python and ffmpeg hard-ware accelerated processing, we sought to create the portal with fade transitions between clips of entities and connections within the world.

We created a transcode process of hls playlists that would randomly shuffle-assemble video strings (of transitions) by category to output randomized assembled videos into a 1 and 1 time only custom playlist each time you visit, and generate a video.

development

With each playlist that is generated, movingart.online can feed these playlists back into our transcode process.

Using hardware-accelerated video transcoding in combination with machine learning techniques, we hope to assemble libraries of purely transitioned videos by colour, and further categorizing.

We thank you for your interest, and happy viewing,
